Research - Digipak Cover Examples

As its in our criteria, we have to produce a Digipak. We have looked at digipaks by the bands behind our  inspiration for our music video, here our a few examples. These are used to show what we would have to compete against on the market.

Here is the Digipak from the band we've taken 'Mr Brightside' from, The Killers.

Evlis Costello and the Attractions - Goodbye Cruel World

'I Wanna Be Loved' is taken from the album 'Goodbye Cruel World' The digipak for this consits of two sides. One has 6 tracks, the other 7.

Nickleback - All The Right Reasons

'Rockstar' ia taken from the album 'All The Right Reaons'. The digipak for this consits of  two discs with Live and Studio tracks. Disc 1 has 14 tracks, live and studio versions. Disc two had 6 videos/DVDs of the songs.



Location Filming

On the 18th November we filmed shots for our narrative sequence. The locations we used were a pedestrian walk way, a bench situated on a field. The photos below depict these locations. Our narratvie consits of a love story: A boy is jealous of a couple as he is in love with the girl. This narrative links with parts of the lyrics
'It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss' 'But she's touching his-chest'.

Band Filming

On the 15th of November we began our band shoot using a few friends of which are musically equipped. We took them down to the studio set up and choreographed our shots and the blocking for the shot. Basically we've lit the studio and set up the instruments and filmed them from various angles to have a variety in editing here is a screen shot depicting this.

Filming

On Monday 3rd November we started to film the photobooth idea that would be present theme throughout our music video. As our idea was based losely on the 'Nickelback - Rockstar' video and 'Elvis Costello - I wanna be loved' we needed to gather numerous people to star in our video. Here below is a sceengrab of our filmed version of this.

There were many more people that participated in this which will be come apparent when our video is completed.

Letter For Copyright

This is the letter for application of copyright for our chosen song.

Dear Island Records

We are A level students and we are writing to use one track from an older album by “The Killers” entitled “Hot Fuss”

The track we wish to use is “Mr. Brightside”. With your permission we would like to use this track for our A2 Media project. This involves creating a music video for a popular music track as well as producing an album and a magazine advert for the “artist”.

If we receive your permission this track would be viewed only by the rest of my media class a teacher and the OCR exam board, it would not be released to a large audience and would not be uploaded to any public video websites, eg. Youtube, DailyMotion.

The Artist and your Company would of course be fully recognised throughout pre-production and the final video itself. A copyright notice, with wording supplied by you can be included in the records of the project. If this is required please end full details.
